Religious Communities
Two religious communities exist within the Catholic Apostolic Church in North America (CACINA)-the Fransican Community of Reconciliation and the Order of Saint Benedict-CACINA (OSB-CACINA). The Order of Saint Benedict was established as a Religious Order on the Diocesan level within the Catholic Apostolic Church in North America (CACINA) on January 6, 1997, by the Most Reverend Carl Gregory Purvenas-Smith, Bishop, Diocese of Washington, DC, of CACINA. The Order consists of Monastics, (Monks and Nuns) of the Order, (those who choose the Religious Life and take vows), and Oblates (Lay persons of either gender and secular clergy who choose to formally affiliate with a Benedictine Community, but not take formal vows.)
