CACINA remembers its faithful servant who has gone into glory

Mother Anne Stewart entered into larger life on Friday, March 7, 2008, following a long and valiant struggle with chronic lung disease. Formerly the Pastor of the Mission of St. Mary Magdalen in Orlando, Florida, and the Associate Pastor of the Parish of St. Paul the Apostle in Springhill, Florida, Mother Anne was the first woman in CACINA to be ordained to the diaconate and priesthood. In addition to her pastoral duties, Mother Anne served as Archivist of CACINA and as Associate Director of the St. Charles Institute.

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, Mother Anne received the Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida, and the Doctor of Philosophy from Boston College. A psychiatric nurse practitioner and medical ethicist, she also studied theology at the Harvard Divinity School. A voracious reader and formidable intellect, she once taught herself German so that she could better understand the philosophers Edmund Husserl and Ludwig Wittgenstein by reading their works in the original language in which they were written.

Mother Anne's long professional career included clinical practice, university teaching, and nursing and healthcare consultation. Most recently, she practiced psychotherapy at the Orange County Health Department in Orlando, Florida.
Mother of three, wise counselor, gifted teacher, capable therapist, loving priest, Anne touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be long remembered.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant, Anne. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.

May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
